What to ask before hiring
Start with the cause, not the finish. A pool that keeps losing water or has cracks needs the problem diagnosed before anyone retiles it, otherwise the new work fails for the same reason the old work did. Ask how they find a leak, and whether the repair can be done without draining the pool, since some tile and grout work can and some cannot.
Ask for the scope in writing, listing what is being replaced and what is being left alone. Ask who supplies the equipment and tiles, and whether a warranty covers the labour, the materials, or both.
